The Spirit Of Hurt

spirit of hurt

The spirit of hurt is a very common spirit; it is malicious and unforgiving and operates in the heart. Where there is hurt, there is bitterness of heart, sadness, confusion and frustration along with offence. This spirit of hurt is no respecter of person. We must know that the Holy Spirit dwells in our heart and so we must be careful what we entertain. We must be careful who we allow to be the landlord of our heart as the scripture says in:

Matthew 6:24- No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other, Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

The Lord downloaded in my spirit numerous things regarding the spirit of hurt. As I write unto you, I do so by His special grace and based on what he taught me. The Lord used wounds as a comparison to the spirit of hurt. There are different types of wounds, physically speaking and as there are different types of wounds, there are also different levels of hurt that one can experience. It’s a fact that some wounds are deeper than others. Some are Lacerations and some may be abrasions.

The spirit of hurt has manifested itself boldly in the lives of so many and has been instrumental in ripping relationships apart. The devil uses this spirit to conquer and destroy many. Satan is very cunning; he has been around for a very long time. He has studied the human race diligently and he knows how to strike and when to strike. Beloved, whenever satan attacks an individual with the spirit of hurt, he normally uses the closest person to such a one. Now there is a reason for this. The devil knows that whenever someone hurts the one closest to them, it is considered to be a very deep level of hurt like a laceration wound. Such wounds could be infidelity, abandonment, abuse, among others.

The devil loves to dig deep because he specializes in ripping hearts into pieces. This allows him to destroy his victims easily. Beloved, wherever there are disasters, sadness, hurt and pain, satan is there. It’s sad to say but it is a fact that satan is joyful at the pain of others; it gives him great delight.

I remember being hurt by someone close to me a very long time ago. I was a convinced Christian but not a converted one. In other words, I was not mature spiritually. It was hard and my heart was so troubled. I got so broken and bitter. I was filled with anger, and unforgiveness saturated my heart. While I was going through this process, I felt as if I was obligated to myself to be angry at my offender. I was wallowing in self-pity, and sadness captured my heart, and all I could see was the injustice done to me. I hugged the spirit of hurt; it was my bosom friend. The wounds I received in this situation couldn’t be fixed with a bandage. It was a deep laceration. I remember at one point my shoulders being so heavy, I couldn’t carry myself. My heart was too big in my chest. I didn’t want to forgive my offender. One day while I showered, I saw the stream of heat coming from my shoulders as the water poured upon my shoulders. Physically, my shoulders would burn me so badly it was as if someone poured kerosene on them and lit it. I was carrying a heavy load that was invisible to others but it was weighing me down physically and spiritually. I was crashing mentally, I was in a world of hurt, and emotionally I was drowning. I can say I was damaged. At this time, I was basing my faith on how I felt.

I couldn’t carry the pain of hurt and bitterness of heart along with unforgiveness among the other demons that entered me because of hurt. I went on my knees and said, Lord, I give it to you, and I kept repeating these words for a while. I felt when the heat left my shoulders, and my heart became light as if you popped a black gas balloon. From my eyes came the tears that were so hot, then I felt peace, a peace that surpassed all understanding, I felt Jesus’s love.

Beloved, hurt is a powerful tool in the hands of the devil when it saturates one’s heart. Satan will use it to hammer all sorts of spirits into people’s lives. We must know that when others hurt us, we should not entertain the pain of the hurt. Many of us have received lacerations wounds from hurt, spiritually speaking. It’s a fact that forgiveness is not really for the ones that hurt you, but it’s really for you. When you release others, God will also allow you to receive your healing and breakthrough. I have observed that this situation was supposed to promote me, but because I was lacking in knowledge it almost destroyed me. Today, I am happy for this experience because it brought me closer to God and anything that brings you closer to God is a blessing and not a curse.

My beloved our expectations of others at times can lead us to disappointment. The scripture says in Psalms 118:8- It is better to take refuge in the Lord, than to trust in humans.

Hurt speaks a language that only Jesus Christ understands. Hurt is a destiny destroyer, it’s like a fire that consumes paper. The spirit of hurt attracts all different sorts of infirmities. It’s true that for many that suffers from various illnesses today, the root cause of their problem is the spirit of hurt that became a magnet to other filthy demons. The deepness of some wounds takes time to heal, while some hurts are considered abrasion, also known as a flesh wound. However, with your willingness and God’s ability, it’s possible to give the spirit of hurt red card. We must thank God for trusting us with trials because trials come to make us stronger as we know that the testing of our faith produces perseverance.

A fresh wound will cause pain once it is pressed on. It is the same way with hurt when it’s fresh; it pains a lot. I must note that satan will see to it that the situation that caused the hurt replays in your mind like a broken record in an effort to remind you. He will plague your mind and cause you to become emotionally unstable. He does this so that you can plunge in deep water where he will deal with you as a shark does his prey.

When we are hurt, rejected or frustrated, whatever it is that might come our way, we must know that God is with us, and once we bow before him, he will stand up for us. Remember, hurt is a valuable tool in the hands of satan if you allow it to enter your heart. Beloved, be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Whenever we are tested, we must remember the scripture that says in

1 Corinthians 10:13- There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

If anyone makes themselves an instrument in the hands of satan, then he will use them. Don’t allow the devil to use you to hurt individuals. We indeed make mistakes as human beings, but when we abide in the Word of God, then Jesus will abide in us. Love covers a multitude of sins. If you have been hurt by someone, I encourage you to forgive, let go and let God heal your wounds and deliver you from the spirit of hurt. If you are finding it hard to forgive, ask Jesus for help.
