Choices

Choices

As human beings, we have choices, and every day the choices that we make will at times determine our destiny. One’s choice can cause an individual to prosper, be destroyed, delayed, or derailed. The choices that one makes can place limitations on one’s life. The word choice means an act of choosing between two or more possibilities. Life is full of choices, and from the day that we were born choices presented themselves.

When I was a child, I remember walking in the back of my home where the land was extra huge. I remember one day I was coming from the field as it was a routine for me after school to just hang out and eat the fruits of the land, look up into the sky and the trees and just listen to nature. I remember when I was heading back to the house and I heard a voice from the direction where the graves of my dead relatives were. I heard the voice of my great-grandmother calling my name from the grave. It was telling me that whenever anyone hurts me, I am to come to her grave and call their names and cry. Immediately I heard another voice intercepting from the sky, I could hear the audible voice of God in my heart. The voice of the Lord was saying that it’s a very bad thing and I must never do it. Beloved, when I heard the voice that told me to cry on my great grandmother’s grave, I knew in my heart it was evil, and I somehow knew it was wrong.

Immediately I nodded my head and continued walking in agreement to the voice of the Lord. Let me say it was a familiar spirit imitating the voice of my great grandmother in an effort to initiate me into witchcraft. This would have changed my destiny and usher me into the balcony of disgrace. It’s a fact that I would have made a covenant with the dead also. However, by the grace of God, I obeyed the right voice, the voice of God. It’s a fact that at that particular time I knew in my heart that it was good and evil talking to me. As a child, I understood as a child, but now that I am grown, I understand better what would have happened if I had made such a choice to listen to the evil voice. My spiritual man understood that it was wrong. I know if I had gone to follow the wicked one’s voice, I would have been initiated into the kingdom of darkness working for satan. Today my body would probably be rotten by now.

Beloved, our choices are important and they come with consequences. It’s a fact that many of our forefathers didn’t know that by them operating in sin and yielding to sinful desires, forging evil covenants will affect their future generations.

Hosea 4:6- My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Mankind has always struggled with making choices. It happened in the garden of Eden and in the days of Noah, and if you read the scripture very well then you will observe that choices are also a part of our lives. Now, so it was in the beginning, so shall it be in the end. It all boils down to every one of us and the choices we make. These choices will determine where we spend eternity. The battle we face in this life where choices are concerned is not what is seen but what is unseen. There are spiritual implications for making wrong choices.

Satan has always been envious of our choices in Christ Jesus because he is a dead man walking. His destiny has not just been derailed, but it has been destroyed. Satan’s destiny has already been determined; he doesn’t have a choice nor is there grace extended unto him. Satan wants to rob others of their opportunity for salvation.

Is it hard to make the right choices?

The word of the Lord says in Psalm 97:10- Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

When you love the Lord, you will hate evil, and it’s a fact that in return, he will deliver your soul out of the hands of the wicked, as we do know that many are the afflictions of the righteous. The Lord has given us free will to choose and this is simply because he wants us to love him freely. God is not a bully nor is he an ogre. He is kind and loving, he’s a gentleman, and he doesn’t force himself on individuals. This is why the scripture says in:

Revelation 3:20- Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

This tells you that Jesus is a gentleman; he stands at the door and knocks. It’s up to you if you will open the door and answer him. Jesus will not force himself on an individual. In order for one to live a life pleasing to God, they must love what Jesus loves and hate what he hates. Jesus Christ loves righteousness, and he hates sin. We must stay away from sin and sinful desires. When we stay away from sin and sinful desires, we are automatically connected to Christ Jesus. Beloved, remember that one cannot have two masters least he will love one and hate the other. If any man is filled with evil desires that come from the kingdom of darkness, he will be connected to satan. But if any man is filled with the desire to serve the Lord in the beauty of holiness, then the Lord himself will work upon the desire of his heart. What kingdom are you communicating with? remember the scripture says in

Matthew 7:16-20- Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

As believers, we must seek to know Jesus Christ, and we must seek to develop a relationship with him. We must allow his words to be the standard of our lives. We must not be convinced Christians, but we must be converted. We must seek to be transformed by the renewal of the mind. If anyone has any form of weakness in their lives, they must carry it to the feet of Jesus. Beloved, when you bow down before Christ, he will stand up for you.

James 4:7- Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The word of the Lord is a mirror and lamp unto our feet. If you choose to entertain satan and his evil desires you will be blotted out from the Lamb’s book of life. However, if you submit yourself and meditate on the word of God, it’s a fact that your soul shall live.

Isaiah 55:3- Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
